Foodbank is a non-denominational, non-profit organisation which is a logistics supplier for thousands of charities and community groups which feed hungry Australians. Established in 1992, it now has a presence across the nation, with distribution centres in all state capitals and major regional areas, and a staff of approximately 70 employees and over 3,000 volunteers.
As a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, Digital Tsunami has supported Foodbank since 2000 on a pro-bono basis. This support has included the development, hosting and technical support of web presence at national and state levels.
Working closely with advertising agency Euro RSCG on the initial strategy and design, Digital Tsunami developed a sophisticated web presence for the national and state Foodbanks.
The site features vectored, full screen background images, dynamic statistics, archived publications, integrated videos, e.commerce (for donations), secure access for each state body to their own content, individual state and national domain names.
The site was central to a strong national campaign by Foodbank in Australia to dramatically increase both aggregate warehouse capacity and throughput, by increased donations, increased supply from farms and processing plants and collaborative supply initiatives.
